Biography
Mr. Poulin has more than thirty years’ experience in computer science, during which he acquired a solid expertise in IT systems and software engineering. He has specialized in managing, implementing and evaluating the overall security of information systems within development and operation environments.
During his career, Mr. Poulin has run an IT and e-commerce consulting business for nearly five years, implementing large information systems using technologies such as distributed networks, n-tier & client-server environments, running mobile, web and e-commerce applications. His experience also includes working as security/system architect at Schlumberger and Nurun, as Chief security officer at CRIM, and as a senior security advisor at ISIQ.
Mr. Poulin is presently CEO at Cogentas, an applied research institute in application security. He is project editor leading the ISO/IEC 27034: Application Security series of International standards, which addresses the integration of security concerns in the application life cycle. Finally, Mr. Poulin is nominated by the Standard Council of Canada as an expert on ISO sub-committees SC27 (since 2006) and SC7 (since 2011), and he is in charge of the Canadian WG D – Security Controls and Services working group.
He is also participating in various research projects in information security areas such as e-voting, Blockchain services, IoT, Cloud, virtualization, and AGILE secure development methods.
His credentials include a doctorate in Software Engineering in Montreal at the École de Technologie Supérieure (School of Advanced Engineering, University of Quebec), a Master’s degree in Computer Security, a postgraduate certificate in software engineering and a Computer Science Bachelor’s Degree, from Laval University in Quebec City.
